EPF: International Social Wellbeing Conference

17-18 June 2025 | Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

EPF’s annual International Social Wellbeing Conference kicked off in June at the Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur under the theme of “Living to a hundred: Are we prepared?”. The event brought together global thought leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to explore the economic, social, and healthcare implications of longer lifespans. Discussions focused on strategies to ensure financial security, healthy ageing, and sustainable support systems for a century-long life.

For this installation, ICMR’s Sabreena Zahri and Alea Nasihin submitted their research titled “Silver Years to Golden Opportunities: the Rise of AgeTech in Malaysia”. The research was selected for publication in the Social Protection Insight booklet, which was disseminated during the conference.

Key Insights from the paper:

  • Unprecedented Opportunity to be Found
Malaysia’s aging population presents many opportunities within the “Silver Economy”. This sector introduces AgeTech, which enables greater social inclusion while unlocking potential economic opportunities and driving sustainable growth. By investing into the Silver Economy, Malaysia can set itself up for an inclusive and resilient demographic shift.
